Getting Started

How do I create an account?

Download ImportantFirst from the App Store or Google Play, then sign up with your email address or use Google Sign-In.

What is the Time Management Matrix?

The Time Management Matrix, created by Stephen Covey, organizes tasks into 4 quadrants based on urgency and importance:

Using the App

How do I add a task?

Tap the purple "+" button at the bottom right of your dashboard. Enter your task details and select the appropriate quadrant based on urgency and importance.

How do I edit or delete a task?

Tap on any task to open the edit menu. From there you can modify the task details or delete it.

Can I set reminders?

Yes! When creating or editing a task, set a due date and the app will remind you before it becomes urgent.

How do I mark a task as complete?

Swipe left on any task and tap the checkmark, or tap the task to open it and mark it complete.

Where can I see my completed tasks?

Scroll to the bottom of your dashboard to see the "Completed Tasks" section.

Sync & Accounts

Do my tasks sync across devices?

Yes! Your tasks automatically sync across all devices where you're logged in with the same account.

Can I use the app offline?

Yes, you can view and manage tasks offline. Changes will sync when you're back online.

How do I change my password?

Go to Settings → Edit Profile → Change Password.

I forgot my password. How do I reset it?

On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password" and follow the instructions sent to your email.

Privacy & Security

Is my data secure?

Yes! We use industry-standard encryption and secure Firebase authentication. Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest.

Can others see my tasks?

No. Your tasks are completely private and only visible to you.

How do I delete my account?

Go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. Note that this permanently deletes all your data and cannot be undone.

Can I export my data?

Data export is coming soon. Contact support@importantfirst.app if you need your data.

Features

Can I add tags to tasks?

Yes! Add tags when creating or editing a task to organize them by project or category.

Is there a dark mode?

Yes! Go to Settings and toggle Dark Mode on/off. You can also set it to follow your system preference.

Can I search my tasks?

Yes! Use the search bar at the top of your dashboard to search by task title or tags.

How do I filter tasks?

Tap the filter icon next to the search bar to filter by status, due date, or quadrant.

Notifications

How do I enable notifications?

The app will request notification permission when you first log in. You can also enable them in Settings → Notifications.

Can I customize notification times?

Yes! Go to Settings → Notification Settings to choose when you receive reminders.

How do I turn off notifications?

Go to Settings → Notification Settings and toggle notifications off.
